ABOUT
fei is a soldier in the organization, a newer but skilled member. she's very good at following set plans but when acting on her own she tends to act impulsively and without thinking things through. despite her attempts to seem cool and distant, she is an emotional wreck and a disaster.
she tries to put up a tough front and may act distant at first, but in reality she is extremely emotional, and her feelings often get in her way and control her more than she controls them. she is extremely persistent and stubborn. once her mind is set on something she will not give up on it, and she does what she thinks is best regardless of what anyone else might think, even if she gets hurt in the process. even in the worst situations a part of her still tries to see the good in people. she tends to keep most people at a safe distance and is afraid of getting attached, but once she opens up to someone she will do it All for them. she longs for some kind of sense of stability, and for a "place" to belong to.
BACKGROUND
as a child, fei always seemed detached from her surroundings. she performed well in most things she did, though not well enough to be praised or memorable. she and her parents were never really close and were always distant. she loved them and they loved her more than she could've known, but they were always too busy to pay much attention to her so she wasn’t very aware of it. in reality they were in heavy debt and tried everything they could to make sure it wouldn't carry over to her once the inevitable came, but she didn't know about it until years later. they would often move from area to area and from town to town so even in her early childhood, she never had a sense of stability in her life.
when her mother disappeared when she was around 12 years old, she was likely more confused than she was upset. she didn't quite process her loss until her father shortly followed her path, leaving fei all by herself with no other family to turn to. despite being put in foster care, fei would often run away for short periods of time and would never stay in one place for too long, until she eventually ran away for good. living in the streets was far from easy and she could hardly focus on anything but her own survival, but she preferred it over staying in foster care, being thrown from house to house with no true place to call home. she started to pick up shady jobs to get by, and by the time that she reached adulthood she had already gained quite an extensive history and experience of criminal activity.
in her early 20s, fei was approached by the organization who recognized her skill and offered her to work for them. having nothing else left to lose, she accepted. although working in a criminal organization is far from safe, it gives fei a sense of stability and security, something she never had before. so when she discovers that her higher-up, agnes, plans to take down the organization for reasons unknown to her, she decides to confront her. rather impulsively. she threatens her, telling her to either back down or she would rat on her. however as the organization looks down on violence between members without reason, and with agnes' higher status giving her a better advantage, fei realizes too late that she had made a mistake confronting her. agnes sees her attempt to threaten her as laughable, a perfect opportunity to take advantage of. backing her into a corner, fei realizes she can do nothing but what agnes tells her to, forcing her to work with her.
